Punjabi: The Linguistically Inferior

Two days ago, a tweet by Sabahat Zakariya shook the Pakistani twitter, Sabahat being an influential person of the Pakistani twitterati caused quite a stir by her tweet which was a condemnation of actions and behavior towards the Punjabis that are racist which is about their language and how they are made fun of often and how everyone ignores that. Here are her exact words: 'The only ethnicity in Pakistan against whom you you can get away with saying simply anything are Punjabis. Criticism of the Punjabi establishment is deployed to get away with being racist towards the average Punjabi and his/her language, manner and background.' A lot of people seemed to have been offended with this tweet of hers with many of them condemning her for centering the conversation towards Punjabis when other ethnicities are less privileged and have suffered by the Punjabi domination in Pakistan's ruling elite. Many have absurdly even drawn comparisons with PTM and the racial prof

Justice or Joke? The Phoenix, the Dishonored and the Glass Of Water!

Pakistan is notorious for various things around the world; terrorism, extremism, intolerance and etc. However one other thing for which this South Asian nation is notorious for is its failed justice system, there is no doubt that Pakistan's justice system has been and is in tatters for as long as I can recall. We all are aware of how cases remain pending for years in Pakistani courts, the well to do get away with their crimes and the poor suffer as justice is butchered every day in the country. From the well-known 'judicial murder' of the former Prime Minister Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto to the recent acquittal of Shah Hussain in the Khadija murder attempt case, the situation of Pakistan's justice system can clearly be analyzed. Khadija Siddiqui a law student from Lahore was stabbed twenty three times in broad daylight by her ex-boyfriend Shah Hussain on a busy road in 2016. Khadija was left in a pool of blood while the monster fled the scene. Miraculously by the grace

Malaysia it's Truly Asia! Chapter Two: Kuala Lumpur City and Batu Caves!

The Roti Cheese Telur which we had devoured the previous night after coming back from Genting was extremely scrumptious for mainly two reasons; firstly that we were starving at that point after a tiring journey so anything would seem delicious (not literally anything) and secondly it was after all a South Indian delicacy and was a perfect blend of the South Indian cuisine so it was a proven fact that anyone who ate it ultimately loved it and so did I. The excitement inside me was at the highest level and the fact that two days before I was at my house not sure even if I'd be going to Malaysia and now I was sitting some 4000 Km away in a completely different country; it really made me praise the marvels of technology. The next destination on our list was the famous Batu Caves and mainly the most visited tourist spot of Malaysia. Before going to Batu Caves one needs to mentally and physically prepare himself, though I wasn't mentally prepared because I had no idea that I w

Malaysia it's Truly Asia! Chapter One: French Village, Bukit Tinggi & Genting Highlands!

French Town, Bukit Tinggi It was yet another foggy day in Lahore with visibility reduced to zero in the mornings and night, the chilly strong winds blowing during the evenings made me shiver as my lips turned dry and my hands became pale and somewhat stiff. Furled comfortably in my thick blanket with a piping hot cup of tea I grabbed my laptop from the table beside me and started watching some TV Shows with an aim of binge watching the entire seasons. As the episode ended I reached out for my phone, a message ringtone emerged from it and I opened my Whatsapp; my father had messaged me '22 December to 5th January' 'Confirmed' 'Pack your bags (with an airplane emoji)' All of a sudden my dry, chapped lips and the stiffness of hands didn't bother me anymore as excitement and enthusiasm welled up inside me and a broad smile immediately appeared on my face.  My flight for Kuala Lumpur on the 22 December had been booked, I was leaving for Kual

A Bloody December: The Fall of Dhaka!

The 16th of December is probably a cursed day in Pakistan's history with two grave tragedies occurring on this day; firstly the APS incident which took place in 2014. The other tragedy which occurred in the year 1971; the day when Dhaka fell and the country broke up into two never to recover back it's former glory. This is widely known as the East Pakistan debacle. I cannot even imagine the emotions of the Pakistani citizens the day when Dhaka fell and a new independent nation i.e. Bangladesh was created. While it was a day of utter joy and happiness for the Bengalis and the Indians, for us it was a dark and a gloomy day; if removing the memory of that day was an option I am sure we'd like to opt for it. In general we Pakistanis have the notion that this catastrophe was the conspiracy of India to break our country up. But all of this started way before the Indian involvement. It all started when the plan of division was announced by Lord Mountbatten then the Viceroy of

Jinnah Of Pakistan by Stanley Wolpert- A Review!

Probably the most prominent figure in the Indian politics of his time Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah the greatest ambassador of Hindu-Muslim unity, the man who divided India and the leader who fought for the Muslims. Stanley Wolpert's informative book on Jinnah reveals many unknown things regarding the great leader. The book sheds light on Jinnah and urges the reader to look at the bigger picture, Jinnah is not just portrayed as an epitome of perfection but as an ordinary human being who possesses certain sentiments and feelings. The book depicts Jinnah's life from birth, as a student who disliked arithmetic, as a young lad who aspires to study in London, a husband, lawyer and his drastic transition from being the greatest ambassador of Hindu-Muslim unity to a person who seriously opposed the Hindus and Muslims living together in one nation. Wolpert records at least seven decades of Indian history along with the public and private life of Jinnah to the pinnacle where
